VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A man who is accused of fatally shooting a 20-year-old on Osprey Street in early April was denied bond on Wednesday.

According to officials, on April 4 just after 7 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Osprey Street for reports of a shooting.

Officers arrived to the scene and found 20-year-old Joshua Rice suffering from life-threatening injuries. Rice was pronounced dead at the scene.

On April 10, officers arrested Keandre Willie in connection with the fatal shooting and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

During a bond hearing on Wednesday, April 23, Willie admitted to firing his AR-15 during a shootout with the victim, but the defense claimed to be unsure if the bullet that killed Rice came from Willie’s gun.
