PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – No one loves their furry friends more than 10 On Your Side viewers. So, it came as no surprise that when we asked for your snow day pictures, we got dozens of photos of cats, cardinals and (mostly) dogs.

For your viewing pleasure, we’ve collected the best of the animal submissions. Remember, if you want to go outside, they want to go outside. Let them outside.

We want your pets to stay safe in this winter weather. If you have outdoor dogs and cats, if possible, bring them inside during the bitter cold. Experts recommend you move other animals or livestock to sheltered areas and make sure they have non-frozen drinking water.

The Humane Society said if you have pets that cannot come indoors, make sure they have access to a dry enclosure large enough to lie down.

A reminder that salt and other chemicals used to melt snow and ice can irritate paws.
