(WAVY) — Many WAVY viewers from across our viewing area, from Mathews County on the Middle Peninsula, to Hatteras Village in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, sent in photos and videos that provided a view of what Hurricane Erin, though hundreds of miles offshore, brought to land Thursday.

From heavy surf to tidal flooding and scenes of people surfing or out taking a look at what was going on, the storm, though not as big as storms that have hit our region in the past, nevertheless has had a significant impact, closing stretches of roads and making it difficult for people to get around in certain areas.
