Portions of the Poquoson River are closed to shellfish harvesting due to a sewage release. The affected shellfish include oysters and clams but not crabs or fin fish.

A North Carolina man will serve 53 years in prison after shooting a man six times in the back during a 2023 party in Virginia Beach and being found guilty of first-degree murder earlier this year, the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said.

There was a multi-vehicle crash in Virginia Beach in the area of Upton Drive and Nimmo Parkway, according to video at the scene. There is no word on any injuries, or a cause of the crash.

A Norfolk bicyclist was hit by a car Monday morning, and the driver involved didn’t stay on the scene. Micheal Merritt said he was riding along Granby Street near Delaware Avenue when he was side-swiped by a car that kept on driving.
