(WAVY) CHESAPEAKE – With offers from the likes of Penn State, Michigan, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and a slew of others, four-star wide receiver Travis Johnson from Oscar Smith High School announced that he will play for the University of Michigan of the Big Ten.
The 6-foot-4, 190 pound Johnson caught 63 passes for more than 1,000 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior.
He was pivotal in helping lead the Tigers to a perfect 15-0 record and a Class 6 state championship.
He still has one more year of high school, but come next year, he’ll be playing for one of the premier schools in one of the elite conferences in all of college football.
“The Big Ten, I think it’s the best conference in the country,” Johnson said. “The last two national champions have been Ohio State and Michigan, Big Ten schools. It’s the best of the best and I’m definitely ready.”
