The Oklahoma City Thunder won their first title on Sunday, beating the Indiana Pacers at home in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
The win puts a cap on what was a full season of dominance for the Thunder, who finished the regular season with the best record in basketball. Given the team’s young core, it feels as though OKC could be poised for several more titles in the years to come, but for now, the team is busy enough enjoying the trophy they have.
After the win, Jalen Williams made sure that the trophy got some love from the staffers that help the Thunder day in and day out across the franchise, walking through the tunnels of the Paycor Center to give some of the lesser known Thunder employees the chance to take part in the victory celebration.
It takes far more than the players on the court and the coach on the sideline to make a professional basketball team into a champion. The staffers that help with medical, travel, and day-to-day accommodations at the facilities all play an important role in building a winner.
Similar to what we saw from the Florida Panthers last week, Williams’s gesture was one that showed a great appreciation for the entirety of the Thunder community.
