Luka Doncic was motivated to lose weight this offseason and gave a bit of insight as to why on Monday night.
Doncic was in New York to take in a Yankees game and spent some time in the booth during the YES Network's broadcast of the contest. Michael Kay asked Doncic about his weight loss and the new physique he showed off in Men's Health this month. The 26-year-old had a simple answer for why he decided to lose weight.
"I just think I needed a fresh start after everything that happened," Doncic said.

After the Dallas Mavericks sent Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in a shocking trade, the franchise leaked that it had concerns that he would never get into good shape. While I'm sure the fresh start angle is true, there's no doubt that must have lit a fire under Doncic to prove his old team wrong.
Doncic averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in 28 games after the trade to Los Angeles.
Doncic looks like a different person, so it will be fascinating to see how the five-time first-team All-NBA guard plays for the Lakers next season.
