CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The WAVY Sportswrap team was out and about covering region playoff baseball and softball, with handfuls of teams hoping to either clinch a ticket to states or capture region gold.

In the 6A Region baseball semis, Grassfield fell to Glen Allen at home 7-4, but the final score wasn’t indicative of just how close this game was. The Grizzlies loaded the bases, and nearly came back in the game, but they just ran out of time.

Across the street, the Grassfield softball team fell to Glen Allen in a 4-0 shutout loss, ending the Grizzlies excellent season with a 15-8 record.

In 5A, Ocean Lakes and Cox went into an absolute pitcher’s duel for a chance at the 5A Region title. The Dolphins avenged their two losses to the Falcons during the regular season and won Tuesday’s game 3-1.
