NORFOLK, Va. (Release via ODU Athletics) — Old Dominion football opens Sun Belt Conference play Saturday when Coastal Carolina comes to Norfolk for a 6 p.m. contest.

The game will be on ESPN+ and the radio broadcast on the ODU Sports Network.

• ODU defeated Liberty 21-7 last Saturday at S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk. ODU snapped a four-game losing streak to the Flames and picked up the Monarchs’ first win over Liberty since 2013.

• The win was the 100th in program history since ODU began football in 2009.

• Coastal Carolina had a bye last week and the week prior defeated South Alabama in the Sun Belt Conference opener, 38-20.

• Quarterback Colton Joseph completed 18-of-26 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Liberty. It was Joseph’s third-straight game with two or more touchdown passes and his sixth career multi-touchdown pass game. Joseph also had 15 carries for 76 yards.

• Running back Trequan Jones totaled a career high 16 carries in the win over Liberty, accounting for 89 yards.

• Wide receiver Ja’Cory Thomas caught five passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns. It was the first career 100-yard receiving game and first multi-touchdown game for Thomas.

• Linebacker Jahleel Culbreath registered a career best nine tackles to lead the ODU defense against Liberty.

Quarterback Colton Joseph completed 18-of-26 passes for 271 yards, three touchdowns and an interception and rushed 15 times for 76 yards in ODU’s 21-7 win over Liberty.

Joseph has passed for more than 250+ yards and multiple touchdown passes in three-straight games.

He’s also rushed for 49+ yards in each of ODU’s first games.

Joseph’s 91.8 rushing yards per game by a quarterback is second in the country. He is second in the Sun Belt Conference in rushing yards per game.

Best Start in a Decade
ODU is 3-1 for the first time since 2014 and shooting for its best start since the Monarchs started the 2012 season 5-0. ODU finished the 2012 season 11-2 and advanced to the third round of the FCS Playoffs.
