Bruce Rader named executive director of Virginia Sports Hall of Fame

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – For 45 years, Bruce Rader brought the best sports coverage in all of the Commonwealth to viewers of WAVY-TV 10 and FOX43. Three years after his retirement from television, he’s staying connected to sports.

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame announced Monday that Rader is the new executive director, taking over for Will Driscoll, who held the position for seven years.

WAVY Sports Director Craig Loper spoke to Rader about the opportunity ahead.

“I’m so excited to be able to share this message and keep our sports hall of fame alive,” Rader said. “I can’t do it alone. I need all of our sports fans … not just here in Hampton Roads, but around Virginia, to come together and support our Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.”

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame is based in Virginia Beach.
