VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Green Run football extended its Beach District winning-streak to 56 games after a 35-28 win over Salem. The Sundevils gave the Stallions all they could handle until senior running back Charles Jackson put the nail in the coffin.

“As a little kid, I always wanted to get a game-winning play,” said Jackson, who scored the game-clinching touchdown late in the fourth quarter. The Old Dominion University commit also tacked on 135 rushing yards, which puts him at 826 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the season. Those numbers lead all Beach District running backs.

“I definitely don’t like to put names on kids, but he’s definitely one of the best running backs to ever come through this Beach District,” said Green Run head coach Brandon Williams.

The Stallions are now in the driver’s seat for their fifth consecutive district championship and are pushing to make another deep playoff run. They had Maury on the ropes in the Class 5 state semifinal and narrowly lost the game, 20-14.

Jackson is pumped to get back to postseason play, as he missed the Stallions’ 2024 playoff stretch with a torn ligament in his ankle.

“I’m just a lot more hungry than I was last year,” Jackson said. “Now, I’m a senior, and it’s time for me to step up and be a leader.”
