NORFOLK, Va (WAVY) — Man, portal season is fun…

Former Norfolk State Women’s Basketball star Kierra Wheeler made it Instagram official on Sunday that she would be taking her talents to West Virginia and the Big 12

This comes after a lengthy transfer portal saga where Wheeler originally committed to play for her former NSU Head Coach Larry Vickers at Auburn Friday, April 11. She then de-committed from the Tigers an hour later, and it was rumored that Auburn and Minnesota (Wheeler’s hometown team) were in a two-team race to get the former MEAC Player of the Year.

Out of nowhere, Wheeler committed to WVU saying “If you’re reading this it’s too late…”

Wheeler will bring her near double-double averages to a Mountaineers team who went 25-8 this past season, made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and went unbeaten at home.
