SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Everyone always talks about who the best quarterback in the 757 is. Nansemond River Senior gunslinger Tyrell Grant wants to make sure people mention him in those conversations, too.

In the Warriors’ 40-6 win over Western Branch, the Syracuse commit went for 259 yards and four touchdowns.

But that’s just a small sample size of what’s been an unreal season for Grant. In the first three games of his senior year, Grant has put up 775 total yards of offense and 13 touchdowns between the ground and air.

“I can beat you with my arm, but I can run right past you with my legs,” Grant said.

Grant and Nansemond River are off to a 3-0 start on the 2025 season and are in prime position to compete for the Southeastern District championship. Grant wants to prove that in a loaded quarterbacking district, he can stand out at the top with the rest of some of the best arms in the 757.

“I want to prove that I am the number one quarterback in the state,” Grant said. “I have to prove why each week coming out here and doing my job.”
