Admirals can’t stop winning, lighting up ECHL with 10-game winning streak

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — How about these Norfolk Admirals?

They just can’t stop winning. The Ads are in the midst of a 10-game winning streak, their longest since they won 28-straight in 2012.

However, this run has come out of necessity for the Admirals because of how loaded their conference and division are. Some of the hottest teams in the league — the top three, specifically — are all within the line of fire for Norfolk.

If you check the ECHL North Division standings, Wheeling holds the current best streak in the league, going 15-0-1 in their last 16 games. Norfolk sits in second, going 10-0-0 in their last 10, and Trois-Rivières sits in third, going 9-0-1 in their last 10.

“They know the dog days of January-March,” said Admirals coach Jeff Carr, in his third season as the team’s coach. “We’re so in the pocket and presence. If you slip three-four games, you’re a fourth place hockey team. Our dressing room knows this and we’re taking this one game at a time.”

Puck drop against the Lions is at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Scope Arena. It’ll be game one of a three-game set.
