CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — On Monday night, community members are invited to watch candidates debate for Chesapeake’s Commonwealth’s Attorney position.
The debate will include Republican candidate David Mick as well as current Chesapeake Commonwealth’s Attorney Democratic candidate Matt Hamel.
According to hosts, the event will be held at 2940 S. Military Highway in Chesapeake with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
The debate will be moderated by Conrad Shesventer, the host of the “Schezz Who?” YouTube series. The series focuses on conversations with leaders across Hampton Roads.
According to a release, David Mick is a lifelong Hampton Roads resident with nearly two decades of criminal law experience as a public defender, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney, and Assistant Attorney General.
Current Commonwealth’s Attorney Matt Hamel has served Chesapeake as the chief prosecutor since 2022. According to a release, Hamel has lead initiatives to modernize case management, strengthen victim services, and collaborate closely with law enforcement and community partners.
Election Day in Virginia is Nov. 4, 2025.
