SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found shot to death in a road early Monday morning.
A City of Suffolk spokesman says the woman, identified as 23-year-old Kiara M. Etheridge of Norfolk, was found on Dill Road, just off County Street.
Dispatch received the call at 4:30 a.m. Police found Etheridge in the middle of the road.
Officers were seen using metal detectors on the side of the road and Suffolk Fire was called to the scene to wash off the road with water.
After about 4 hours, first responders wrapped up the crime scene.
People in the area say it’s emotional waking up to the scene. Neighbors say it’s usually a quiet area. No one 10 On Your spoke with says they heard gunshots or arguments Sunday night.
