Woman dead, 17-year-old airlifted in Wythe County head-on collision

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)- A woman is dead and a 17-year-old hospitalized after a head-on collision in Wythe County.

According to the Virginia State Police, the crash happened Monday on Cedar Springs Road when a 2025 Kia sedan, traveling north, crossed the center line and struck a 2002 Dodge pickup.


The driver of the Kia, Jennifer Gilmer, 24, of Dryden, died as a result of the crash.

The 17-year-old driver of the pickup was flown to Johnson City Medical Center. Two other juveniles in the pickup were treated for minor injuries, according to VSP.
