RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Department of Social Services has expanded access for SNAP recipients through a new program.

In partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture, the recently launched Virginia Restaurant Meals Program allows those who use EBT cards to buy grab-and-go meals at participating restaurants.

The goal is to make nutritious meals more accessible.

The program gives access to those over 60 years old, permanently disabled or experiencing homelessness to buy a prepared meal.
