NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore are asking for the public’s help this holiday season.

According to Feeding America, over 960,000 people in Virginia are facing hunger. Of that number, over 250,000 are children.

So, the foodbank has to make sure to continue its hard work to make sure everyone is fed for the holidays.

Director of Marketing Mallory Reckling told 10 On Your Side that while Thanksgiving was great for the foodbank, the need is still greater than ever for the rest of the holiday season.

They’re always accepting food donations, but Reckling said money goes a long way.

“One dollar provides two nutritious meals. So, if you give a $10 donation that turns into 20 meals,” Reckling said. “You can also donate food. You can bring it right to the foodbank, you can organize a formal food drive – there’s a lot of different options.”

Reckling added volunteering is a great way to help out as well.
