A Virginia Beach man pleaded guilty this week to several bank robberies in Virginia and North Carolina over the past couple years.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says court documents show 50-year-old Russell Carter robbed 11 banks in 2016 and 2017, and attempted to rob another.
Prosecutors say Carter robbed all of the banks the same way — he would walk up to the teller and give them a note demanding money.
Carter robbed banks in Richmond, Williamsburg, and Fredricksburg — as well as one in Charlottesville and another in Durham, North Carolina.
He faces up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced in June.
