BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — On Friday, June 14, Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) conducted a drug and contraband shakedown at Lawrenceville Correctional Center.
According to VADOC, correctional team members completed a drug and contraband shakedown at Lawrenceville Correctional Center to improve safety and security.
During this operation, VADOC team members found:
- Approximately 100 Buprenorphine strips
- Three packages containing a powdery, white substance
- Several pills
- An unknown, powdery substance
- Several mobile phones
- Several phone charging blocks
- Phone charging cords
- An unrevealed amount of cash
Lawrenceville Correctional Center is the only privately operated prison in Virginia, but VADOC will assume control of the facility by Aug. 1, 2024.
