HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Two women were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon with non life-threatening injuries from a shooting at a Zaxby’s Chicken in Hampton.
Hampton dispatchers received the call about the shooting in the 2200 block of Todds Lane around 4:45 p.m.
Both of the female victims are 27 years old, police confirm. One is from Newport News and the other is from Hampton. Police say both were sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot at the time.
“I was like, ‘what was that? Was that gunshots?'” said Sheena, a manager at the Soaps & Suds Laundromat across the street, upon first hearing the “popping” sounds.
“This kind of stuff don’t happen around here,” Shenna said. “I just ran out in traffic across the street to help any way I could.”
Sheena used to be a Certified Nurse Assistant, she told 10 On Your Side. She helped to compress the women’s wounds until first responders arrived.
“Might have been why I was put here on the earth,” Shenna said. “Maybe I need to be back in the medical field to attend situations like that.”

20-year-old Christian Stevenson, of Hampton was arrested and charged in connection with this incident. Police say Stevenson has been charged with two counts of maiming, one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, one count of attempt robbery, and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
