Suspect in Suffolk shooting now charged with first-degree murder

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man who was arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in Suffolk is now charged with first-degree murder.

Police orginially charged 21-year-old Tavarus Gray Jr. with second-degree murder in connection to the death of Corey Baker.


The shooting happened in November 2018 in Suffolk at the Heritage Acres apartment complex. Baker was found shot in the 1000 block of Nansemond Parkway, and died at the sceen. 

Prosecutors withdrew the charge of second-degree murder against Gray on Wednesday — and charged him with first-degree murder.
