Biography
Born and raised in Gloucester County. Graduate of Gloucester High School. Married with 2 children both attending Gloucester County public schools currently. I’ve been actively involved in their education and extracurricular activities. I’d like to bring my experiences to the school board. In 2023, I was appointed to an interim At-Large seat on the Gloucester County School Board. It was an experience that deepened my interest in serving our community in this way.
Graduate of Longwood University with a major in Business and a minor in Communication Studies. Since graduation, I have worked in the insurance industry investigating, analyzing and negotiating. Over the last ten years, I have had the privilege of working with elementary, middle, and high school students through various programs at my local church. The last two years, I’ve been an active member of the Page PTA. Just recently I’ve joined the new Parent Safety Committee for GCPS.
Why are you running for office?
My why is our kids. My children and every child in Gloucester deserve the best we possibly have to offer them. My goal is to represent the entire community. My heart will always be on student achievement focused on each individual child’s needs. That achievement will always require a collaborative effort from parents, teachers, staff, administration, and students. Our community is privileged to have incredible teachers, administrators, and staff at our schools. With so many other educational options available today, I believe in public school and its value. It would be an honor to serve Gloucester County in this role, and I am grateful for this opportunity.
If you are elected, what will be your top priority in office?
My top priority is to help Gloucester create a community where all students have opportunity and space to learn and grow.
Do you believe partisan politics have a place in schools?
Personally, I do not believe partisan politics have a place in schools. Although people will have their individual beliefs, schools should be a place to foster learning for students not a place to share political views.
What say should parents have in the curriculum taught to their child?
Parents play an integral role in their students’ learning. Parents have a right to know what is being taught to their children. The balance between parent rights and school district decisions can be complicated. I believe having an open door to communication each way is important.
How do you work with others you don’t agree with?
The same way I work with those I agree with. Being a part of a board requires listening, learning and making the decisions needed not for yourself but to uphold the oath of office you are taking.
