Police, U.S. Marshals take fugitive into custody after barricade situation

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police from Chesapeake and Norfolk assisted U.S. Marshals in taking a fugitive into custody without incident late Friday night.

Jermel McSwain, 35, was wanted after a two-city police chase last week that began in Chesapeake and ended near a Portsmouth mobile home park.

McSwain was finally taken into custody after a barricade situation that lasted nearly seven hours in the 1100 block of W. Little Creek Road. He was originally wanted for felony eluding law enforcement, possession of narcotics and parole violation.

According to Norfolk dispatchers, the call came in for the fugitive around 5:15 p.m.
