Police seek man who tried to shoot girlfriend in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk police say they need your help tracking down a man they say tried to shoot his girlfriend.

Police say the incident happened Thursday morning at the Hoffler Apartments on East Washington Street. Officers were called to the scene just before 10:30 a.m.  

A preliminary investigation found 30-year-old Tyrone Coleman fired a gun at her, then ran away.

John F. Kennedy Middle School was briefly placed on lockdown as officers searched for him in the area.

Coleman is wanted on charges of attempted malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted Felon and use of a firearm in a felony. He is also faced with a probation violation out of New York.

Police say Coleman is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who sees him is asked not to approach him, and to call 911 or their local police department.
