Police: Man accused of firing shots at Newport News home

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News man is facing several felony charges after police say he fired into a home last summer.

Newport News police say the alleged incident happened Aug. 20, 2017 at a home 39th Street. A 32-year-old man told officers several shots had been fired at his home.


Officers found damage to the front door and window.

Police say that during an investigation into the incident, a 28-year-old Hampton woman reported she had been threatened by the suspected gunman, Jermaine Tucker, who was also her ex-boyfriend.

Tucker, 31, was arrested June 25 on several charges: possession of a firearm by felon, malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, maliciously shoot/throw into occupied building, intentional damage and threat in writing.
