SUNBURY, N.C. (WAVY) — One person was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday morning following a crash involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer in Gates County.
Dispatchers tell WAVY.com the crashed was reported at the intersection of U.S. 158 and North Carolina Highway 32, in the community of Sunbury, around 7 a.m.
The tractor-trailer involved in the crash was reportedly hauling scrap metal.
One person was flown to a local hospital via Nightingale, but dispatchers could not confirm the severity of their injuries. Another person refused treatment at the scene.
The eastbound side of 158 and westbound side of 32 have been closed at the scene, with North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers diverting traffic.
The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately clear.
