FRANKLINTON, N.C. (WNCN) — North Carolina authorities are releasing more information about a massive drug raid and arrests last week.

The round-up happened Wednesday when 17 suspects were nabbed in Wake Forest by authorities from Wake County, Wake Forest, Raleigh and Franklin County.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office addressed the drug trafficking crackdown with a statement and new photos about Operation Exploding Kilo.

“I have seen the faces of evil in the flesh. These 17 individuals have worked to carry out the devil’s mission. The poison they have pushed on our community’s most vulnerable people is eradicating a generation right before our eyes,” Franklin County Sheriff Kevin White wrote in a news release.

The large-scale drug bust included heroin and cocaine traffickers, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office. Franklin County deputies seized prepackaged cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana, 55 firearms, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and other assets, White said.

“My critics will always hate on me for calling out criminals,” White wrote. “They will tell you I am racist, hateful, and divisive. The truth is, I am only prejudiced. Prejudiced against those that wish to inflict harm on the people who call our great community home.”
