Police seek shooting suspect in Elizabeth City

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) — Elizabeth City Police are looking for a suspect in connection with an assault with a deadly weapon Saturday.

According to officials, just after 11:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Southern Ave. — between Brown Street and the intersection with Shepard Street, Riverside Avenue and South Water Street — for reports of a shooting. Officers arrived to the scene and found a 39-year-old man suffering from two gunshot wounds.


After an investigation, officers identified Malik Latrell Harrell, 24, as a possible suspect in connection with the incident. Warrants were obtained for Harrell for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
