Police: 3 break-ins at 2 Elizabeth City businesses, 1 arrested

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) — A man police said broke into a pair of Elizabeth City businesses earlier this month, one of them twice, has been arrested and faces multiple charges.

Quinton David Morris

Quinton David Morris, 40, of Bank Street, has been charged with three counts each of felony breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering.

Morris was taken to the magistrate’s office for processing and later taken to the Albemarle District Jail, where he is being held without bond, Elizabeth City Police said.

The first breaking and entering incident was reported Sept. 2 around 2:57 a.m. at the Dollar General on Oak Stump Road, police said, and when officers arrived after responding to an alarm call, they found the location clear and took a report of stolen items.

Police said the second incident happened around 6:04 a.m. Sept. 11 at a CVS Pharmacy on West Ehringhaus Street. When officers arrived after responding to an alarm call, they found the front door had been pried open and items were taken.

Three days later, the third breaking and entering incident took place around 4:29 a.m. at the same CVS Pharmacy, according to police, who said the front door was shattered and items were stolen there, also.

Elizabeth City Police said the cases are still active and ongoing, and asked anyone with information related to the incidents to call the Elizabeth City Police Department at 252-335-4321 or the Crime Line at 252-335-5555.
