KINSTON, N.C. (WNCN) — A multi-law enforcement search is underway for a 16-year-old boy that’s been missing since Saturday in Kinston.

According to the Kinston Police Department, Jaylen Green walked away from the Neuseway Nature Center on Caswell Street around 6 p.m. Saturday.

The nature center is a park, science museum and campground near the Neuse River in Lenior County.

Officers said several agencies across eastern North Carolina are assisting in efforts to find Green, including the use of drones, watercraft and bloodhounds.

Despite the outpouring of support from the public on the department’s social media page, officers ask that the brunt of the search belong to law enforcement. “Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help,” officers said. “At this time, we continue to ask the public to avoid the area while operations are ongoing.”

Officers advise anyone who sees Jaylen Green to call 911 or the Kinston Police Department at 252-939-3160.
