DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Dare County Sheriff’s Deputies made two separate drug arrests while conducting traffic stops on Saturday, Jan. 27.
The first happened just before 4:30 a.m. on Highway 12 near the Whalebone Intersection in Nags Head. Deputies stopped a vehicle they say was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Rodanthe, N.C.

After establishing probable cause, they searched the vehicle and found Marijuana edibles and Suboxone.
Karrie Christine Barnes, 35, of Camden, N.C. was arrested and charged with felony possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a schedule III controlled substance.
She was given a $4,000 secured bond. Nags Head Police Department assisted with the incident.
The second arrest happened around 8:30 p.m., when deputies pulled over a woman on Colington Road near Billy’s Seafood. During the stop, a K-9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance.
After finding cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside the car, deputies arrested 29-year-old Alexis Chase of Kitty Hawk, N.C.

Once at the jail, deputies performed a more detailed search of Chase found cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms.
Chase was charged with two counts of felony possession of cocaine, felony PWISD cocaine, felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, felony possession of controlled substance on jail premises and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Pashkow is being held on a 48 hour hold due to being out on pretrial release already. Kill Devil Hills Police Department assisted with their K-9 during the stop.
