Currituck County Fire-EMS hosts inaugural Youth Public Safety Camp

CURRITUCK, N.C. (WAVY) — Currituck County just hosted its first ever Youth Public Safety Camp last week.

According to a release, the camp, hosted by Currituck County Fire-EMS, allowed kids between the ages of 10-15 to see the work of firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency managers, dispatchers, medics and military responders in the span of five days.

The camp took place between July 21-25, and provided kids with a hands-on learning experience to explore what the various public safety agents do each day. A schedule of the week’s events can be seen below:

The release states that on Friday, each camper received a certificate, gear and several gifts from the participating agencies.

“Currituck County thanks each of the participating agencies and partners who made the Youth Public Safety Camp a tremendous success. This initiative would not have been possible without the dedication of our public safety professionals, volunteer fire departments, military and aviation partners, and generous community supporters,” Currituck County officials said.
