Horse killed in Corolla; woman charged with DWI

COROLLA, N.C. (WAVY) – A five-year-old stallion is dead after being hit on the beach near the Corolla Wild Horse Fund around midnight Saturday, says the horse fund in a Facebook post.

The driver, 26-year-old Shannon Seamster of Carova, was charged with a DWI in the incident, according to the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office.

Seamster was issued a $2500 secured bond.

The horse fund is encouraging drivers to be careful when driving in that area, especially at night.
