Geno’s Steaks expanding to Virginia, opening first Hampton Roads location

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – An authentic taste of Philly is coming to Hampton Roads.

Geno’s Steaks, the iconic Philadelphia cheesesteak restaurant, is set to open its first Virginia location at Power Plant Hampton Roads this winter.

Power Plant Hampton Roads is a 480,000-square-foot dining and entertainment district in Hampton, Va.

The new venue will bring Geno’s legendary Philly cheesesteaks to Hampton Roads, marking the company’s first expansion into Virginia. According to a release, the restaurant will be located between PBR Hampton and Bass Pro Shops, and will serve lunch and dinner.

“It’s an incredible honor to bring a piece of our Philly tradition to Hampton Roads,” said Geno Vento, Owner of Geno’s Steaks. “The passion for food in this region is undeniable.”

Founded in 1966 by Joey Vento, Geno’s Steaks has become a Philadelphia institution, known for its mouth-watering cheesesteaks. The business is now run by Joey’s son, Geno Vento, who continues the family legacy.

The new Hampton Roads location will feature a full-service bar, classic arcade games, and a scenic waterfront patio.

Zed Smith, Chief Operating Officer of The Cordish Companies, which owns the Power Plant district, expressed excitement about Geno’s arrival.

“Their decision to expand into Hampton Roads at the Power Plant speaks volumes about the region’s growth and culinary momentum. This is a major moment for the region’s dining landscape,” Smith said.
