MOYOCK, N.C. (WAVY) – The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office investigating a strange case of road rage.  Deputies say it started on Caratoke Highway and ended in a Moyock neighborhood.

“It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” said Robert Lee.

Every day, thousands of cars travel along Caratoke Highway headed into North Carolina.  But on Tuesday, Lee says something shocking on the roadway took place.

“When we came up to merge there was a car in front of him,” Lee added.  “I had to gas it so I didn’t crash into the guardrail.”

Lee says that was the beginning of a road rage incident that included the other driver throwing something at his truck.

“When I got in front of him, he was switching lanes at that point,” Lee said.  “He started flipping us off, honking the horn and everything.”

Lee says he wanted to get a photo of the driver’s plate.   He followed the driver into the North Point neighborhood and into a dead end.

“At that point the guy got out of the truck flipping out,” Lee added.  “My brother got out of the truck.  Next thing I know my brother and him are fighting and my brother got stabbed.”

Family says Brandon Lee was stabbed six times.  Lee says he didn’t see the knife at first.

“Didn’t see it until my brother was yelling ‘knife’ and I finally saw it in the guy’s hand,” Lee said. “My brother was bleeding everywhere on the ground.”

Brandon was rushed into surgery and should be OK. The other driver also went to the hospital.  Robert Lee just can’t understand why this happened.

“I almost watched my brother die,” Lee added.  “If it wasn’t for the two people in the cul-de-sac who held him down to stop the bleeding, he probably would be dead right now.”

So far no charges have been filed.  10 On Your Side talked with Currituck County District Attorney Andrew Womble, who says when his office gets the case file, he will decide if there are charges.

Lee’s family say medical bills are adding up.  They’ve started a gofundme page to help him get back on his feet,
