Man dies after being hit on Durham Road in Wake County, NCSHP searching for van suspected of killing him

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man lost his life Thursday night after being hit and killed by a car in northern Wake County, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

According to highway patrol, the victim was walking along the west bound shoulder of Durham Road near the intersection of Peed Road just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday night.

The victim was then struck by a vehicle that then fled from the scene, leaving behind debris, highway patrol said. First responders attempted CPR, according to highway patrol, but the man died of his injuries at the scene.

Highway patrol said investigators are still looking for the suspected vehicle at this time, and described it as a late 1990s early 2000s Ford work van. Highway patrol added it will have a damaged or possibly missing passenger side highlight, which is from striking the victim.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or if they see a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle to call 911 or NCSHP at 919-733-7952 or *47 from a cell phone.
