Man convicted in Toano double shooting gets 40 years

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A man convicted in a 2017 double shooting that left one person dead and another injured is facing 40 years in prison.

Malcom Shemar Lee was found guilty of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in a  felony and nonviolent felon in possession of a firearm in December.

James City County police said 20-year-old Adren Garnett was killed and an 18-year-old James City County man was injured in the shooting.

Police arrested Marques Raquan Stephens-Graves and Jordan Allen Davis a week and a half after the shooting. Lee was caught by police three days after that.

Court records show Lee received 40 years with eight suspended for murder, three years for use of a firearm and five years for possession of a firearm. Lee will serve this time consecutively.
