YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — A man who authorities say crashed a boat Wednesday night has been charged with boating under the influence.

Ellen Bolen, deputy commissioner with Virginia Marine Resources Commission, said the incident happened at Dare Marina around 7 p.m.

Bolen said 68-year-old Arnold Fay Thomas was driving a 21-foot Seahunt boat when he crashed into a dock that had moored boats — and knocked one of them off a lift in the process.

Bolen said Thomas was ejected from the boat, and was then pulled from the water by on-lookers.

Damage from the crash runs in the tens of thousands of dollars, Bolen said.

Thomas was taken to Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
