Man found guilty of first degree murder in fatal stabbing in York County

YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A man arrested in York County, who was initially charged with second-degree murder in a fatal stabbing, was found guilty of first degree murder during his four-day trial.

In October, 2018, deputies with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office responded to the Colonial Trailer Court in the 6300 block of George Washington Highway just before 6:30 a.m. That’s when deputies found the victim, identified as 49-year-old Gregory Mullins, lying in the street with multiple stab wounds.

Mullins was transported to Riverside Regional Hospital and died a short time after arriving.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Benjamin Hahn confirmed the grand jury indicted Michael Bush in May 2019 on a first degree murder charge. He said there was evidence Bush stabbed Mullins eight times in addition to numerous slash wounds.

Bush is scheduled to be sentenced on January 18, 2022.
