NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly pulling out a gun and threatening to shoot two people, police say.

Newport News police say officers were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Jenness Lane in the Denbigh area on Dec. 7, where there was a report of a man threatening to shoot “everyone.”

Police say a 33-year-old Newport News man told officers he had friends over to his house, including 44-year-old Leroy Holmes.

Holmes and another person reportedly got into an argument, during which Holmes pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot two people.

Police say Holmes fired several shots into the air, then left the area.

As officers arrived on scene, Holmes was found and taken into custody.

Police have charged Holmes with two counts of malicious wounding, discharging a firearm, purchase or transportation of firearm by persons subject to protective orders, reckless handling of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a violent felon.

No one was injured in the alleged incident, and police said no firearm was found.
