YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — A Yorktown man was arrested after allegedly engaging in sexually explicit communication with a minor, according to police.

On Tuesday, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office began investigating a complaint of a man having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a young girl.

Investigators located evidence of electronic communication between the suspect and the victim that was sexually explicit.

Based on the evidence collected, the suspect was then arrested.

Carlos A. Polanco, 39, was charged with use of a communication system to facilitate sexual crimes with children and carnal knowledge. He is currently incarcerated in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.
