YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — A Yorktown man was arrested and faced multiple charges after a police pursuit Tuesday afternoon.

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Daniel Anderson Jr. quickly drove away from a deputy who initiated a traffic stop on Wolf Trap Road at approximately 3:15 p.m. He narrowly missed another deputy who was also on the scene.

With the help of additional deputies, these deputies begin to pursue the vehicle as the driver appeared to be intoxicated and drove in a manner that put the public at risk.

During the pursuit, the vehicle pulled into York Industrial Park, rammed a deputy’s vehicle and attempted to continue eluding deputies.

The vehicle was eventually boxed in by multiple deputies on George Washington Memorial Highway near the Wawa convenience store.

Following refusal to exit the vehicle, deputies broke the driver’s side window and removed him from the car.

Anderson was arrested and charged with multiple crimes and traffic offenses. The charges include:

Driving Under the Influence -3rd Offense  – Felony

Evade and Elude – Felony

Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (2) counts – Felony

Damage Property in Excess of 1,000 Dollars- Felony

Attempt to Cause Bodily Injury to Law Enforcement (3) counts – Felony

Multiple Traffic Violations

Anderson is currently incarcerated in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
