YORK-POQUOSON, Va. (WAVY) – A barricaded subject has been taken into custody Wednesday afternoon following a law enforcement response that prohibited traffic on Dandy Loop Road in Yorktown, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office responded to the 700 block of Cheadle Loop Road around 12:30 p.m. for a report of a breaking and entering and robbery.

The suspect left the residence in the Seaford area and deputies subsequently located him. When they attempted to stop the suspect, he refused to pull over. He continued on to the 1700 block of Dandy Loop Road, where he entered his residence.

A statement from the sheriff’s office advised the public to avoid the area, and traffic in or through the area was not permitted.

At 4:55 p.m., the sheriff’s office posted on social media that the barricaded person, identified as 49-year-old Winfrey Henry, was taken into custody. He was charged with burglary, robbery, assault and battery and failure to stop for law enforcement officer.

He was taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

The YPSO adds that no one was injured in the incident.

The area is now opened back up for traffic.
