YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Deputies are investigating a shooting that injured an off-duty deputy early Monday morning in York County.
Rachel Pace said she heard gunshots from the shooting. She lives in the Tabb Lakes neighborhood.
“This is safe neighborhood. We don’t normally have people with guns floating around here, so it didn’t occur to me,” she said.

Officials said a man was seen breaking into vehicles. A male homeowner, who is a deputy with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office and was off-duty at the time, confronted the man.
