YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A week after a bank on Kiln Creek Parkway was robbed by a masked man, officials say they have a suspect in custody.
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old DeWayne Handy, from Hampton, was charged with two counts of robbery, use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony, entering a bank while armed with the intent to commit larceny and wearing a mask in public.
He is being held without bond.
Handy is accused of robbing the Old Point National Bank in the 200 block of Kiln Creek Parkway around 9:50 a.m. on December 3.
The sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook that the suspect did not display a weapon, but implied he had one.
He was given an undisclosed amount of money then fled.
