YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Two people, including a pregnant woman, have died after a two-vehicle crash on Water Street Thursday night.
According to officials, around 8:15 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Water Street in Yorktown, between Daniel’s Drive and the Colonial Parkway entrance, for reports of a two-vehicle crash.
Witnesses to the crash reported that a 2016 Dodge Challenger was traveling at a high rate of speed when it swerved out of control and struck a 2015 Honda Fit. Deputies stated that the passenger of the Challenger, a 21-year-old man, and the passenger of the Honda Fit, a pregnant 34-year-old woman, both died as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Honda Fit, a 28-year-old woman, suffered a laceration to her leg, but has since been released from the hospital. The driver of the Challenger, 22-year-old Hunter Arnold, suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Riverside Hospital.
Deputies said charges are pending against Arnold.
The crash remains under investigation.
