(WAVY) – Sun Belt Player of the Year Mike Green was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens with the 59th overall pick.

The 6-foot-4, 250 pound Green helped lead Lafayette High School in Williamsburg to a state championship and began his college career at Virginia.

After transferring to Marshall, Green blossomed. He led all of FBS with 17 sacks and was second in the nation with 23 tackles for loss.

Some projections had Green going in the first round.

He joins a Ravens team that has recently been a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
