WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — A 22-year-old man pled guilty to sending ominous messages and photos to a Williamsburg police officer, including a threat to rape the officer’s daughter.
Xavier Joseph Stafford, of Williamsburg, made contact with an officer on Feb. 14 and 15, according to court documents. The officer then asked Stafford to remove his car from a private property in Williamsburg.
Later on Feb. 18, Stafford sent the police officer an email in which he threatened to rape the officer’s daughter. Stafford included two animated images depicting child sexual abuse and looping photos of the officer’s home.
Stafford is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 4 and faces up to 20 years in prison.
The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
